Soulslike Game Faces Major Disappointment on PC Platform

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is currently encountering serious challenges on PC, leading developer Leenzee to issue an official apology. This game, once hailed as one of the most anticipated Soulslikes of 2025, achieved various milestones since its launch on July 23.

However, it has struggled notably on the PC platform. Shortly after its release, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers became a sensation on Steam, attracting over 100,000 concurrent players eager to experience this long-awaited action RPG.

Initial stats suggested that the Chinese Soulslike could find substantial success similar to that of Black Myth: Wukong, assuming it maintained its momentum. Unfortunately, players soon discovered that the PC version of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is plagued by severe performance issues, rendering it unplayable for some users.

Additionally, various glitches, including problems with redeeming pre-order bonuses, further marred the experience. Some players also reported discrepancies with the game’s Steam pricing, impacting their purchasing experience.

In light of these issues, Leenzee, in collaboration with publisher 505 Games, issued a joint apology and communicated plans for hotfixes and compensation. To address the situation, the developer promised PC players several compensatory measures, including the distribution of the game’s original soundtrack for free.

Those who had previously purchased the soundtrack will receive refunds. Furthermore, players who bought the deluxe edition will be given a free costume at a later date.

The release of patch 1.3 intends to rectify some performance problems and glitches related to pre-order bonuses. However, despite these efforts, the game has faced severe backlash on Steam, with its recent review score plummeting to “Mostly Negative.”

Nearly 70% of over 14,000 new reviewers provided negative feedback, posing a significant challenge for a newly launched title. On a positive note, Leenzee has committed to ongoing support and additional fixes.

The coming weeks will be crucial for the development team as they strive to regain the trust of the Steam community and navigate this tumultuous period.
