Anatoly Shestov, the executive producer of Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader, recently shared his aspiration to develop a game set in the Secure, Contain, and Protect (SCP) universe. This concept is distinctive, as Owlcat Games has primarily specialized in established intellectual properties (IPs). However, given their track record, the creators of Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader seem well-equipped to explore this innovative idea.

Founded in 2016, Owlcat Games has notably released titles such as Pathfinder: Kingmaker, Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, and Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader, all of which are based on popular tabletop role-playing games. Recently, they announced ongoing projects like Warhammer 40K: Dark Heresy and The Expanse: Osiris Reborn. Nevertheless, Shestov revealed that some team members are already dreaming about expanding into additional projects.

During an interview with Videogamer, Shestov discussed the upcoming “Lex Imperialis” DLC for Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader, which will introduce a significant amount of new story content. He expressed his personal desire to create a game within the SCP universe, stating, “I always wanted to make a game based on an SCP universe, like Secure, Contain, and Protect.” He commended the SCP license for being a community-driven initiative, noting that the concept resonates with his inner child.

Secure, Contain, and Protect, commonly referred to as the SCP Foundation, is a collaborative fictional project started in 2008. It revolves around an organization dedicated to combating paranormal or supernatural phenomena, with content contributed by a global community on a wiki platform. While Shestov’s comments don’t guarantee that Owlcat Games will develop an SCP game, there are various existing titles inspired by the franchise, offering gamers a range of experiences across multiple genres.

Saber Interactive is making waves in the gaming world with the recent release of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, which launched in September 2024. This installment continues the storyline established by its predecessor from 2011, reviving the Space Marine series and solidifying Saber’s reputation as a key player in the realm of high-quality licensed Warhammer 40,000 games. Due to its immense popularity, parent company Games Workshop has already greenlit a sequel, promising fans more content in the future.

In the latest update, Patch 8.0, Saber Interactive has offered exciting insights into what’s next for Space Marine 2. Among the notable features is a significant overhaul of the game’s customization system, which players have been eagerly awaiting. This update promises to enhance how players can use and customize their Astartes Power Armor.

One of the key changes includes the ability to equip Chapter Champion Armor parts across different character classes, allowing for greater personalization. However, Saber has indicated that certain restrictions will still apply. While players will enjoy more flexibility in their choices, factors like lore accuracy and technical limitations will dictate which armor parts can be utilized across classes.

This attention to detail underscores Saber’s commitment to staying true to Warhammer 40,000 lore, which involves close collaboration with Games Workshop for design approvals. Currently, Space Marine 2 offers players various cosmetic parts to customize their characters for Operations, PvP, and single-player campaigns. The recent changes aim to expand these options further, promising players an enriched gaming experience.

With intense action and thrilling battles against Tyranid swarms, players can enjoy a cinematic campaign or engage in co-op missions with friends, putting their skills to the test in a universe filled with challenges and glory.

Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader has recently launched a new Twitch Drop campaign to celebrate the release of its second expansion, Lex Imperialis. This campaign offers players a chance to acquire in-game items such as the Vox-Whistle, Arbites Handcuffs, and Welded Gloves by simply watching an hour of the game on Twitch. Fortunately, fans can obtain these rewards even if they do not own the DLC. Release on June 25, Lex Imperialis is the second expansion of the Warhammer 40K CRPG.

It introduces a new Arbitrator origin, an Overseer archetype, and enhanced shield equipment compatible with one-handed weapons. This update concludes the first Season Pass of Rogue Trader, featuring a 15-hour campaign focused on Solomorne Anthar, a new companion from the Adeptus Arbites. In celebration of the new content, Owlcat Games is offering useful in-game items that will aid players in navigating the dark and grim world of Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader. Players can earn these Twitch Drops by linking their Twitch and Rogue Trader accounts, entering the game, and interacting with a chest featuring a Twitch logo to complete the account linking.

Currently, Twitch Drops are only accessible to PC players, who will receive their items automatically in the linked chest after watching one hour of any Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader stream on Twitch. Notably, the Vox-Whistle interacts with the Overseer archetype’s familiars but can still be obtained without the DLC. With the release of Lex Imperialis, all DLC from the first Rogue Trader Season Pass is now available. Owlcat Games has also announced a second season pass containing additional expansions set for release in 2026.

This means fans can expect plenty of new content in the coming years, particularly with Warhammer 40K: Dark Heresy also in development.
