Blumhouse and Universal Pictures have unveiled a new trailer for “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2.” The initial reactions to Freddy’s return have been overwhelmingly positive. However, fans have pointed out a significant mistake from Blumhouse regarding one of the animatronics. “Five Nights at Freddy’s” is a survival horror video game series created by Scott Cawthon, in which players must survive the night as a security guard in Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, a restaurant haunted by killer animatronics.
Since its launch in 2014, the franchise has expanded to include several sequels, novels, and two live-action films. The first film, released in 2023, was directed by Emma Tammi and starred Josh Hutcherson from “The Hunger Games” as the security guard. While critics were not impressed with the adaptation, fans of the video games and horror enthusiasts largely enjoyed the initial film. In promotional materials for “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2,” the reveal of Toy Freddy excited audiences, as this version is a popular reinterpretation of the original character.
The sequel will also introduce new cast members, including Skeet Ulrich, Wayne Knight, Mckenna Grace, and Teo Briones. Recently, fans criticized Blumhouse on Reddit for misgendering Bonnie. A user shared a screenshot of Blumhouse’s reply to a comment that praised Withered Bonnie’s design. The company responded with, “She is terrifying and she is the moment,” referring to Bonnie as “she.”
This mistake stems from Bonnie’s name, even though the character has been designated with He/Him pronouns on the game’s Wiki. Additionally, some fans have raised questions about Bonnie’s color, highlighting a previous confirmation from Cawthon regarding the character’s shade. As excitement builds for the sequel, fans are eager to see if “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2” will be scarier than its predecessor. The new trailer showcased the designs of the withered animatronics, and while many noted the film versions appear more terrifying than the game designs, some questioned discrepancies, such as Withered Chica’s jaw.
However, there are speculations that her jaw may open wider at a pivotal moment in the film. “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2” is set to release on December 5, 2025.
