Roblox to Eliminate Star Codes in Upcoming Changes

Roblox has made the decision to eliminate Star Codes by October 24, 2025, in favor of a new initiative called the Creator Rewards program. This program aims to provide creators with enhanced opportunities to monetize their content, replacing the existing engagement-based payouts and the Creator Affiliate programs. Roblox, launched in 2006, has grown into one of the most popular gaming platforms worldwide, attracting millions of players and creators each month. The game saw a significant rise in popularity following its release on Xbox One in 2015, which introduced a new generation to its user-generated games.

In October 2023, Roblox expanded its reach by becoming available on PlayStation platforms, tapping into a vast player base across PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Notably, in May, Roblox surpassed the combined active player count of Steam’s top 100 games, solidifying its position as a lucrative platform for creators. The decision to phase out Star Codes has received mixed reactions from the Roblox community. Many players shared on Reddit that they had almost forgotten about Star Codes, which allowed them to support their favorite creators during Robux and Premium purchases.

The system provided creators with a 5% commission from purchases made using their unique codes. However, the community expressed some skepticism about the upcoming Creator Rewards, as it remains an unproven concept and is set to launch on July 24, 2025. In contrast to the limited earning potential of Star Codes, Creator Rewards promises to offer higher commissions and a broader network of creators eligible for earnings. Yet, many creators are concerned that this shift could negatively impact those reliant on engagement-based payouts and the previous Creator Affiliate program.

As the gaming landscape evolves, only time will reveal whether Creator Rewards will succeed in providing valuable support to Roblox creators. In the meantime, the platform continues to thrive with a range of engaging games, including recent hits that surpass traditional titles in player numbers.
