Post-Apocalyptic Survival FPS Surges to 200,000 Wishlists on Steam Before Official Release

Frostrail has recently reached an impressive milestone, garnering 200,000 wishlists on Steam. Publisher Shiro Unlimited announced this achievement, expressing gratitude for the warm reception the game has received even before its release.

Developed by FakeFish, known for their survival horror game Barotrauma, Frostrail is a post-apocalyptic adventure combining elements of shooting, survival, and exploration. Set in a once-powerful empire now engulfed in cold and despair, Frostrail immerses players in a haunting world filled with specters and other eldritch horrors resulting from the Emperor’s pact with the Void.

Players assume the role of Penitent Gardeners who travel aboard an armored train, confronting these creatures and purging the cursed land. The buzz around Frostrail continues to grow as it celebrates this remarkable milestone.

The gameplay trailer, released in April on the game’s Twitter account, gives players an exciting first look at the environment. It showcases stunning snowy landscapes and the exploration of buildings in search of resources.

The trailer also hints at terrifying creatures and a freezing mechanic that compels players to find heat sources. Crafting mechanics appear to allow players to create weapons and improve their armored train.

Frostrail is set to launch in Early Access in 2026, though an exact release date has not been specified. Currently, it will be available on PC, with plans for a potential console release in the future.

The game supports both solo play and cooperative experiences for up to four players, and the developers are exploring small-scale modding options. With a history of success from FakeFish, which boasted a 94% approval rating for Barotrauma on Steam, expectations for Frostrail remain high.
