Pokemon TCG Pocket Leak Hints at Upcoming Changes to the Trading System

A recent rumor surrounding the Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket suggests there are changes ahead for the trading system. Upon its release, one of the most sought-after features by players was the ability to trade cards with one another. This much-anticipated feature finally launched in January 2025, but the response was mixed. While many players appreciated the addition, others expressed frustration regarding its mechanics.

The primary complaints centered around the high cost of trade tokens and the surprising restriction that some cards could not be traded at all. Following the negative feedback, deNA announced on January 31 that modifications would be made to the system. To ease the criticism, they began distributing trade tokens to players more frequently. On March 13, developers further addressed the concerns by announcing plans to remove trade tokens while introducing new adjustments to enhance the trading experience.

According to a leak on the Pokémon TCG Pocket subreddit from user sylveon_eevee, significant updates to the trading system are expected on July 29. This leak suggests that trade tokens will be eliminated and replaced with Shinedust as the new currency for trades. Players can convert trade tokens into Shinedust, starting with a rate of one token for ten Shinedust, with higher conversion options available though not detailed in the leak. Moreover, the update will allow players to exchange up to 60 trade tokens for 60 packs of Hourglasses.

A new feature will also enable players to create a card wishlist for their trading partners, promoting better communication. However, it is noted that promotional and two-star Pokémon TCG Pocket cards will not be included in these changes. While these rumors are intriguing, players should remain cautious as nothing has been officially confirmed. In the meantime, fans can explore the themes of the newly released booster pack, Eevee Grove, which features 107 new cards inspired by Eevee and its evolutions, including the notable Eevee ex.
