Capcom’s New Sci-Fi Game Features Zombie Robots Armed with Laser Swords

Capcom has finally updated the release window for its long-awaited sci-fi title, Pragmata, now scheduled for 2026. The latest trailer showcases revamped visuals and new combat mechanics, immersing players in a dystopian world where protagonists Diana and Hugh battle zombie-like robots armed with laser swords. The trailer unveils an intriguing backdrop involving a fictional company called Delphi Corporation, which promotes its vision of “creating life for our future” through generative AI and a material known as Lunafilament.

This intro evokes comparisons to the sinister Umbrella Corporation or TerraSave from the Resident Evil series. After this promotional segment, the focus shifts back to the main characters, Diana and the newly introduced astronaut, Hugh. Pragmata’s shift toward action becomes apparent as the trailer highlights dynamic combat sequences.

Diana supports Hugh while he employs a laser pistol and jet boots to engage enemies, providing agility and an edge in attacks. Diana leverages her android abilities to hack terminals and enemy robots, creating tactical opportunities. Facing a variety of disassembled robots that resemble Resident Evil’s zombies but wielding laser swords adds a unique twist to the gameplay experience.

Visually, Pragmata has made significant improvements since the initial reveal. The lighting effects and detailed animation of Diana’s hair demonstrate the game’s enhancement, thanks to its development with the PlayStation 5 Pro in mind. While it is expected to be playable on the base PlayStation 5, the extent of any potential downgrades remains uncertain.

With the blend of engaging storytelling, captivating visuals, and inventive combat, Pragmata continues to generate significant interest among fans despite the delays.
