Ghost of Yotei is set to be showcased in July, providing an extensive insight into exploration, combat, and new gameplay mechanics. Pre-orders are now available for the Standard, Digital Deluxe, and Collector’s Edition, generating significant interest globally.
The game is Sucker Punch’s largest open world to date and features a non-linear structure, with a confirmed launch date of October 2, 2025. July 2025 is pivotal for Ghost of Yotei, as Sucker Punch Productions is preparing to reveal detailed gameplay during a special State of Play presentation.
As the spiritual successor to the acclaimed Ghost of Tsushima, this new installment is already attracting considerable attention, marking an important stride in the studio’s exploration of feudal Japan. Initially announced during PlayStation’s State of Play on September 24, 2024, Ghost of Yotei unfolds 300 years after the events of Tsushima.
The narrative follows Atsu, a warrior on a quest for vengeance after her family’s murder. Throughout her journey in Japan’s remote Enzo region, she seeks out those accountable for her loss and is accompanied by a wolf companion.
In April, Sucker Punch confirmed the game’s exclusive release on PlayStation 5. The wolf companion is designed to assist in combat, potentially enhancing player immersion, reminiscent of the companion mechanics in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
As anticipation builds, the coming month will shed more light on gameplay. Sucker Punch hinted at a dedicated showcase that promises fresh updates on exploration and combat systems, featuring Atsu and her wolf.
This gameplay deep dive aims to clarify what players can expect from the game before its October launch. While details continue to emerge, former PlayStation executive Shuhei Yoshida stated that Ghost of Yotei could surpass Tsushima.
Pre-orders began in early May and quickly topped charts in multiple regions, indicating robust interest ahead of the game’s release.
